Blogging, Social Media, and Internet Marketing
I have been writing for the web since 2005, both in English and Russian. First, I was writing for Exzibit.net (2005-2006). In 2005-2006, I was also regularly updating a website for the programme The LOOK that I did on QT Radio in Manchester. I also contributed articles on cinema to some e-newsletters.
Not initially a geek, I started a Blogger blog in August 2006 (Notebooks – Los Cuadernos de Julia). I tried nearly all possible “statcounters” with this blog. In January 2007, I decided to start blogging in Russian and created a supplement blog Los Cuadernos de Julia in LiveJournal, which was a good opportunity to explore LiveJournal as a platform. By February 2007, I opened up this portfolio on WordPress, again as a means to learn about the platform. Finally, I started two blogs on TypePad, The Italian Hours and Mundus Vivendi, which allows me to explore and experiment with advertising on the site, as well as to learn TypePad as a blogging platform.
In short, I have the working knowledge of all four main blogging platforms: Blogger, WordPress, TypePad, and LiveJournal, including their advantages, limitations, differences, etc.
I regularly use several forums on a range of subjects, and am certainly present on Facebook, Twitter, and vKontakte. I use several bookmarking services, including del.icio.us, Digg, and StumbleUpon. I have contributed to the Public Wiki, and have made a particularly good use of Flickr. I also have a YouTube channel.
Since 2007 I have been working in Internet Marketing. I have the working knowledge of paid and organic search, and Social Media marketing. One of my clients was a leading European e-bank, for which I created and/or optimised multilingual paid search campaigns and ad copies, in addition to day-to-day management of the campaigns on Google, Yahoo!, MSN, Yandex, and Rambler (the latter two are Russia’s leading search engines). The languages I worked with included Russian, French, Italian, and German.
My experience in organic marketing and social media advertising involved working on campaigns for a beauty salon, a travel agent, a used car dealer, and an Internet Communications company. I optimised organic data; produced site content and ad copies; blogged and/or advised on blogging; advised on the use of Social Media, particularly Flickr, Facebook, and Twitter.
Through work and personal experience of utilising various Internet tools for marketing and promotion, I prepared and delivered the following presentations: Working with Russian Search Engines (Yandex and Rambler); Using Flickr; Keyword Generation; Blogging. All of them are original and based on my personal experience, research and analysis. I have been involved in Search as my own client for over two years now, and can lend my expertise and experience to assist at your marketing tasks.
